Wild Travel
Wild Travel organizes birdwatching and nature photography tours—utilizing slow-moving boats and small craft—throughout the Danube Delta and the Dobrogea region in Romania.
We specialize in this field; having been active since 1998, we possess extensive experience in working with small to medium-sized groups. While our groups typically consist of up to 14 people, we can also accommodate larger groups upon request. We handle every aspect of your trip, including airport transfers from Bucharest Otopeni, all accommodations, meals, and professional guiding services.
We communicate fluently with our guests in French, English, Italian, and Romanian.
Mihai Baciu—the company’s manager and guide—has authored and published five books on the birds of the Danube Delta, all featuring photographs he captured during our tours.
Our tours are built on several core principles: "slow tourism" with a deep respect for nature, the use of quiet boats, traditional local cuisine, and support for the local community through stays at guesthouses located in the Delta’s traditional fishing villages.
With our experience in nature photography, combined with years of birdwatching, we know where to go, when to go, and—if necessary—how to approach a bird.
The tours are organized primarily in the spring (the eight-day ones) and early summer, though we also offer tours in the autumn or winter—specifically for the red-breasted goose.
We also organize private tours for small groups or individuals, subject to guide availability.
