Galapagos Safari Camp
Galapagos Safari Camp is a family-owned, land-based luxury safari camp on a 55-hectare (135-acre) private rewilded reserve in the highlands of Santa Cruz Island, bordering the Galapagos National Park.
Founded in 2007 by Michael Mesdag and Stephanie Bonham-Carter, it was South America’s first luxury tented safari camp.
Inspired by the classic African safari, guests sleep under canvas and spend their days exploring with expert naturalist guides, carefully matched to each guest’s interests. The Camp’s tailor-made, all-inclusive Galapagos Safaris combine private excursions on Santa Cruz with shared or semi-private boat excursions to uninhabited islands. They are a flexible alternative to fixed-itinerary cruises and group tours.
With just nine Safari Tents (including two Family Safari Tents) and one Family Villa Suite, the Camp’s accommodation suits couples, families and multigenerational travellers seeking a deeper, more intimate way to experience the islands.
Rooted in the philosophy of Appropriate Luxury, life at Camp balances comfort with a close connection to nature. Giant tortoises roam the property, endemic birds fill the trees, and the Camp overlooks the Galapagos National Park and Pacific Ocean. Beyond Camp, guided safaris offer opportunities to observe and photograph more of the islands’ iconic wildlife, both on land and underwater.
