Reserva Natural Cantares

Our project focuses on conserving biodiversity in a forest in the Colombian Andes. Since 2017, we've restored 32 hectares previously used for cattle ranching by planting approximately 8,000 native trees. Thanks to this and many other efforts, the ecosystem has begun to recover, and we've gradually observed the return of birds and other wildlife species.

The reserve is home to nearly 200 bird species—about 15% of the 1,960 species recorded in Colombia. One of Cantares' main services is guided nature interpretation for hiking, birdwatching, and bird photography. Here, visitors can encounter species like perdiz colorada (Odontophorus hyperythrus), águila crestada de montaña (Spizaetus isidori), and lora draguera (Leptosittaca branickii)—all highly prized for birdwatching tourism and conservation value. We also have a garden where you can observe 15 hummingbird species.

The cabin is a welcoming retreat nestled in this forest with views of Los Nevados National Natural Park. It accommodates four guests and features hot water, a Jacuzzi, and a fully equipped kitchen. Cabin guests enjoy access to 4 waterfalls and 2 kilometers of trails with varying difficulty levels, organized into five thematic routes.
