es una especie de ave paseriforme de la familia Sturnidae nativa del sur de África. Es común en la mayor parte de su área de distribución, pero está en gran medida ausente en el noroeste árido y en las tierras bajas del este de Sudáfrica. Vive en hábitats abiertos como pastizales, matorrales, arbusto espinosos y tierras agrícolas del karoo, y con frecuencia se asocia con animales de granja.
