Colimbo Chico

Es un ave acuática migratoria que cría en lagunas y charcas de agua dulce árticas y semiárticas, y en invierno migra principalmente a las costas de Eurasia y Norteamérica.
El colimbo chico, además de ser el colimbo más extendido del mundo, es el más pequeño de todos. El colimbo chico es aproximadamente del tamaño de un ánade real, con una longitud de entre 55 y 67 centímetros. En invierno es un ave poco llamativa, grisácea en las partes superiores y blanca en las inferiores. Durante la época de cría adquiere su característica franja rojiza en la garganta. Se alimenta principalmente de peces, aunque también come anfíbios, invertebrados acuáticos y material vegetal. Es una especie monógama que forma parejas duraderas. Ambos miembros de la pareja contribuyen a la construcción del nido, la incubación de los huevos y la alimentación de los polluelos.
