Alción de Esmirna

Es un ave sedentaria en la mayor parte de su área de distribución aunque algunas poblaciones realizan desplazamientos cortos. Suelen encuentranse a bastante distancia del agua donde se alimenta de una gran variedad de pequeños reptiles, anfíbios, cangrejos, pequeños roedores e incluso aves.
