Croatia

Croatia is a remarkably diverse wildlife destination where the forested mountains of the Dinaric Alps meet Mediterranean coastlines, islands, wetlands and karst landscapes. The forests of Gorski Kotar, Lika and Velebit support all three of Europe’s iconic large carnivores: Brown Bear, Grey Wolf and Eurasian Lynx, while the Adriatic is home to Bottlenose Dolphins and important colonies of seabirds. Wetlands such as Kopački Rit and Lonjsko Polje add rich birdlife, while the Kvarner islands hold Croatia’s distinctive cliff-nesting Griffon Vultures.
