haxa Lagoon is a shallow desert lagoon located in the heart of the Atacama Salt Flat within the Los Flamencos National Reserve, Chile. Situated at an altitude of approximately 2,300 meters above sea level, it is world-renowned as one of the best spots for birdwatching, particularly for observing three distinct species of flamingos (Andean, Chilean, and James) that feed on the lagoon's abundant micro-organisms. The site features a striking landscape composed of sharp, white salt crusts contrasted against still waters, offering spectacular mirror-like reflections of the surrounding Andean volcanoes, especially during sunrise and sunset.
