Aggtelek National Park

Where limestone karst terrain rises and plunges across North Hungary's borderlands, Aggtelek National Park unfolds across 543 square kilometres of one of Europe's most geologically dramatic landscapes. The park's defining character emerges from its network of cave systems—over 200 caves honeycomb the subsurface, carved by water through Mesozoic limestone over millennia—and from the deeply incised canyons and gorges that scar the plateau above.
